Spa Dishcloths With Ann       $25 
Saturday: July 13; 1 - 3PM
Difficulty Level: Beginner
Instructor: Ann Rushton

Ever wonder how they do all those special stitches? Take this afternoon class and learn how much fun and versatile knitting can be! You’ll learn three different stitch patterns and learn to wade your way through what looks like complicated knitting directions! The added bonus—get started on holiday knitting!


Basic Socks With Ann       $40 
Saturdays: July 27, August 3 & 10; 10:30AM - 12PM
Difficulty Level: Beginner
Instructor: Ann Rushton

You will learn basic sock construction using worsted weight yarn so you can get them done and on your feet. This class will familiarize you with the basics of sock construction. The first week we will start the leg. The second class we will do the heel flap, turn the heel, and pick up the gusset stitches. The third class we will knit the toe and graft it closed with Kitchner stitch.


Christmas Stockings With Ann       $40 
Saturdays: July 27, August 3 & 10; 12:30 - 2PM
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Instructor: Ann Rushton

You know you want to make them! Get started on those stockings NOW and be done in time for Christmas! Learn to make this perennial classic over three Saturdays as well as bump up your skill sets. Have fun picking colors, learning to read charts, and to knit “the other way.” Have a stocking ready just in time for Christmas! (Maybe more if you’re obsessed!)


LEARN TO CROCHET       $40 
Sundays: July 28, August 4 & 11; 3 - 5PM
Difficulty Level: Beginner
Instructor: Thea O’Grady

This class will introduce you to the world of crochet. You will learn a variety of stitches to make a sampler scarf, how to comfortably use a crochet hook and all of the basics that beginner crocheters need to know. This class if fun and stress-free. KNITTERS! Do not count yourselves out. You need this class too. Newer knitwear designs include crochet and learning crochet will just add to your bag of tricks.

Crazy Girl Yarn Tasting This Weekend!

Stop by the shops this weekend Friday June 28th through Sunday June 30th for a special in-store yarn tasting event!  We'll be handing out yarn tasting kits and sample projects featuring three of our favorite yarns.  Take your kits home or sit and sample with us!  Bring sizes 3, 5, and 6 double point needles and a cool drink, and enjoy our delightful, warm weather projects.  After you've sampled, the Crazy Girls will be on hand to show you the vast array of patterns and projects perfect for these yarns and summertime knitting.

We're featuring the following yarns in fun summer-themed mini-projects.

Berroco Vintage has been a favorite of ours for awhile, and if you haven't tried it, you are totally missing out on some serious knitting joy.  Spun in a soft blend of acrylic, wool, and nylon, this machine washable worsted yarn can be used for any number of projects, including blankets, hats, socks, and sweaters.  Your sample project is a Soda Can Cozy; it's perfect for softball games or hanging out on the deck.  

We just started selling sock weight Koigu KPPPM last month, and already it is a shop favorite.  Who can resist those colorways? We're seeing it used for everything from beaded hats to bed socks.  It consists of 100% merino wool, and the colorways are like nothing we've seen before.  The yarn tasting sample is an iPod Nano Sock, adaptable to any mp3 player.

 

For most of us, summer knitting is defined by knitting with cotton, which is light and easily cared for. Those of you who have used any of the Blue Sky yarns know how wonderful they can be to use, and DK weight Skinny Cotton is no exception.  Naturally, one thinks of washcloths, light summer tops, bags, and so much more.  So do we!  And you'll just love the little jelly jar cozy pattern we've found for this sample!

Since everyone is so busy this time of year, we're doing a little different version of a yarn tasting. Come by the shops anytime June 28-30 to pick up your sample of some of our new yarns. You'll have a choice between one of three "mini-skeins" sampling yarns we're hot for this summer, plus a little pattern that we think highlights the yarn. Best of all, NO CALORIES!
